Opening Day Plans: Western Kentucky

What better way to let everyone know about our tailgating plans than create a blog? Bookmark this site, and we'll post updates before each game. Please feel free to make suggestions, menu requests, or whatever. Under the totalitarian regime new gameday gameplan, tailgating begins at 7:00AM. Official rules can be found here. We will make sure someone arrives at 7:00AM to claim our traditional spot at the Coliseum and set up. Kickoff is at 12:30PM, so pre-game tailgating will be brief. We plan to have breakfast and snack foods.

Post-game tailgate plans call for grilling chicken quarters and pork tenderloins, while watching the afternoon's games.

What can you do to help?
1. $5 per person will help us cover the costs of providing meat & sides. If you plan to drink, bring extra money or BYOB.
2. If everyone brings a 12-pack of their favorite soft drink or water, we will stockpile them for the season and bring the drinks for each game.
3. Bring a side or snack that can be easily stored or kept in a cooler during the game.

Saturday's forecast calls for 87F with isolated early showers, clearing later in the day. At this point it looks like Ernesto will spare us any serious bad weather.

Be prepared for difficulty finding a parking space, particularly if you plan to arrive later. Because no parking will be allowed on curbs or sidewalks, there will be more cars fighting for fewer spaces than ever. Consider carpooling, and prepare yourself for the ugly fact that if you come late you will probably have to park at the Intramural Fields or East Campus Deck. If you have not done so already, you may want to consider buying a space in a deck for the rest of the season. Passes go back on sale September 9 for the remaining 6 games. You can buy a pass here.

My mother wouldn't nurse me, and that is why I am such a miserable, petty man.
