Vandy Tailgate Plans

The combination of a 12:30 kickoff and homecoming activities means that we'll have a pretty small tailgate this weekend. If you want to come by and have a drink or say hello, that would be great.

We'll also have some breakfast finger foods, but we're not planning on doing any big meals.

Our main purpose for tailgating this weekend is "real estate management." We're protecting our turf from would-be squatters. ;-)

See you on Saturday. Go Dawgs.

Award Winning Tailgate

In case you missed it, we won the WSB / Publix "Ultimate Tailgate" Award for the Tennessee game. They came by and the photo above, and uploaded it to the web site. We always knew we operating at a pretty high level!

Menu: Georgia vs. Tennessee

We're serving
Smoked Brisket and Brunswick Stew.

We will be serving a lunch for this one. As always, bringing side items is huge help for our tailgate. We had an awesome collection of sides last week, and we're looking for more help this week. If you plan on bringing something just leave a note in the comments section.

Baked beans, mac-n-cheese, green beans, corn, potato salad, corn bread, etc are all great fits for sides. We're pretty open minded.

We'll have the Big Screen TV on bright and early. Some of the TV selections include:

ESPN College Gameday (ESPN)
10:00
Texas vs. Oklahoma (ABC)
Noon
South Carolina at Kentucky (Raycom) 12:30

We're looking forward to seeing everyone. If you're bringing a side, please post a note in the comments. If you're bringing extra guests (which we welcome), please give us a heads up as well.

THANK YOU!!!

I just wanted to get a quick note out to everyone to say thanks for all that you did to make Saturday's tailgate a huge success.

The sides were awesome and we had plenty of food to feed everyone throughout the day. Thanks for taking the time to bring sides and helping us make our tailgate a great place to hang out.

Saturday was a perfect example of why we do what we do for tailgates. It was an amazing day!

Thanks again for pitching in and bringing side dishes and we hope to see everyone at the Tennessee game. Kick off has been announced for 3:30.
Beef Brisket and Brunswick stew are on the menu.

MENU: Georgia vs. Alabama

We're serving smoked Ribs and BBQ on Saturday.

For a tailgate of this length, we'll be eating both lunch and dinner. Bringing side items is huge help for our tailgate. Everyone that pitches in with items like that helps make our tailgate the resounding success that it is every year. If you plan on bringing something just leave a note in the comments section.

Some food suggestions:
  • 2 Gallons of Baked Beans - You don't have to buy or make 2 gallons. But if you buy or make a gallon and someone else can do the same, we're set. Sonny's BBQ sells good Baked Beans.
  • 1-2 Gallons of MacNCheese - If you don't want to make it, Publix sells it. 1 or 2 people bringing MacNCheese helps.
  • Green Beans, Tater Salad, Stew, Etc are all great fits. Whatever sounds good with Ribs or BBQ.
We'll have the Big Screen TV on bright and early. Some of the TV selections include:
  • 10:00 - ESPN College Gameday
  • 12:30 - Ole Miss at Florida
  • 3:30 - Tennessee at Auburn
We'll also flip over and keep our eyes on UNC at Miami, Arkansas at Texas and others.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone. If you're bringing a side, please post a note in the comments. If you're bringing extra guests (which we welcome), please give us a heads up as well.

Georgia vs. Alabama: Richt calls for the Blackout

Saturday is going to be awesome. Kickoff is at 7:45 pm, so I'm pretty sure that we'll be eating two meals with tailgating starting around 8:00 am. Early weather forecasts are incredibly promising with temps around kickoff in the mid-70s.

We'll post menu information soon, but I do know that it's pork based. Begin thinking about side dishes now because we're going to need a bunch of them to make it through two full meals.

Night Game + Blackout + ESPN College Gameday

Campus will be out of control.

Central Michigan Tailgate Plans

Update - We're watching the weather closely. I don't think Hurricane Hanna is coming our way but we'll post any change of plans for our tailgate here.
The 3:30 kickoff this week means that we get to have a full day of tailgating. The main item on the lunch menu will be Margarita Chicken. If you've ever had it at Chili's then you know what I'm talking about, but this is much better. We'll be grilling on site this week too.

Gameday will be on at 10:00am but we'll be there before that to set up and enjoy the morning.

Southern Miss vs. Auburn will be showing on the big screen at 12:30.

Bringing side items is huge help for our tailgate. Everyone that pitches in with items like that helps make our tailgate the resounding success that it is every year.
If you plan on bringing something just leave a note in the comments section.

We seriously need everyone to bring a side dish. We need baked beans, potato salad, green beans, etc. Anything that sounds like it would go well with a chicken dish.

The more visibility we have into who's coming and what you're bringing, the better we can plan. We're excited to have all of you, and your guests! We're looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

A Few Words About Finances

I cannot wait for our first tailgate of the year! Believe it or not, preparations are made literally year round for football season and tailgating. Well before the season starts, we spend a lot of money stocking up on paper supplies, bottled water, chafing dishes, sterno cans, table cloths, trailer storage, you name it. I thought you might be interested to know that for the 2007 season, our tailgate cost about $2000 (give or take). This figure excludes another $2000 in "big ticket" purchases, like the trailer in which to store all the equipment.

At $10 a head, it would be tough to find better food or a better part on campus. The good news is that if 10 more people per home game paid, we would break even. I know sometimes it may be tempting not to pay if you're not going to eat, but I just wanted to point out that the $10 is our way of getting back a lot of sunk costs that go into having the awesome experience we have.

If you bring a friend, be a good host and throw in $10 for them. And whatever is left over after we pay our expenses goes right back into the tailgate. Just wait until you see the upgrade for watching the satellite. The only bigger screen on campus is in the scoreboard. Just saying.

Go Dawgs! GATA!

Georgia Southern Tailgate Plans

Kickoff time for GSU is 12:30 pm. We'll be there early to set up and enjoy the morning. We're going to have an omelet station and a pancake griddle. We tried this for the Kentucky game last year, and it was a huge hit. Mmmmmm.....Chick-Fil-A omelets.

Don't you remember how yummy those omelets were last year?

Anyway...I'm sure the other yummy breakfast snacks will be around too.

Please show up early so we can enjoy our first tailgate of the season! If you want to bring a breakfast type food item that would be spectacular as well. If you plan on bringing something just leave a note in the comments section.

Thanks and GO DAWGS!

2008 Kickoff Times!

I would be pretty cautious about 'confirmed' game times after the Alabama game. CBS screwed us last year towards the end of the season more than once. S, so remember things are always subject to change, especially as the season wears on. Now if we remain at the top of the pack, that schedule below should hold to form... but one loss and who knows what will happen.
I'm just sayin'.
